Lately, my work has inspired some new outfits based on the jewelry and accessories we wholesale. There are so many thousands of products in every type of style, from Chinese to African to vintage-inspired to ultra modern. I am like a kid in a candy store every single day, and I swear not a day goes by that I don't find some hidden, sparkling treasure that I've never seen before! I adore jewelry more than anything else in the world--except maybe books--so of course, I buy something new for myself every week. Sometimes really unexpected things grab my attention--like this black rhinestone-covered military dogtag in gunmetal. Maiki had bought me a very military-style tee-shirt back from London, which went well with a pair of zip and laces-covered pants I bought off a friend of mine a year ago.
The tee-shirt is made in a very thin burned-out cotton which had its front cut out, turned upside down, and attached back on the rest of the shirt with a row of snaps on canvas trim. It's sexy and bad-ass. Maiki has such great taste, though very different from my usual feminine style.
Well, it's one of the very few gray things that I have in my closet, so I thought I'd wear it in time for Sophistique Noir's monthly theme. It's what I wore to work today--though with Converse sneakers, not heels!
And I'm still loving my new hair. This marcel wave thing is too easy--I merely spritz and scrunch my hair in the mornings (after setting it the night before) and off I go, looking pretty much like this until the humidity we've had here lately wrecks it, and by the time I get to work it's all frizzy and doesn't look like this anymore. Boo rain! It'll be more fun in the winter!
